About: About: Shannon Mullane is a general assignment reporter for Bayfield, Ignacio, the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, Vallecito and other communities in the Pine River Valley. She has been a Durango Herald staff writer since May 2019.

Prior to that, she received a master's degree in journalism from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 2019 with a specialization in environmental and political reporting. As a graduate student, she contributed to The Colorado Sun and completed a six-month internship with The Colorado Independent, covering national and state elections, campaign finance and more.

She earned her bachelor's degree in global studies and international politics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2014.
