Our president was on TV for three minutes recently, after talking on the phone with the George Floyd family. Both requested no violence after the verdict.
Numerous boarded-up cities are bracing for the worst and hoping for the best. Many mayors with issues in the last year during protests/riots worry of more millions in damage. Even if the verdict is the hoped-for “guilty,” there is so much pent-up emotion, officials expect to keep the National Guard around for months to keep the peace.
Hate is addictive and affecting the left and the right. Unless Congress, which also has a long history of not working well, gets it together with improved police policies, a red-flag gun policy and more – soon – there is going to be hell to pay.
Why even think about a beneficial $2.2 billion infrastructure bill going full speed ahead when there is so much destructive behavior happening now? COVID-19 has hit us hard as well.
Come on, “we, the people,” be civilized in the 21st century and dream of what our nation could be. Other countries are depending on us to do the right things, too. Love thy neighbor no matter what color of skin you are looking at.
