Changes are afoot at a property once occupied by a motel and later a mobile-home park across from Trimble Hot Springs.
Geof Schlittgen, who owns the property with his wife, Engenie, said he is updating the infrastructure and making other improvements at the park, which now will be exclusively for RVs.
Schlittgen said when he purchased the 2-acre property three years ago, it had fallen into disrepair. Since then, all the mobile homes have been moved away, and this spring Schlittgen began upgrading the water, sewer and electrical systems as well as the landscaping at the park on County Road 203 just off U.S. Highway 550, across the road from the hot springs.
"We did not have to cut one tree down, which I'm pretty proud of," he said.
He said the renovations should be complete in about a week. The park, which will accommodate about 20 RVs, is not officially open, but visitors would not be turned away if they were having trouble finding a spot during the holiday weekend, Schlittgen said.
Schlittgen also owns Trimble Hot Springs with a group of other investors.
