Obama's "transparent" administration is beginning to make sense. "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. This crisis provides the opportunity for us to do things that you could not do before," said Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.
Seizing opportunity, the Democrats have fed us liberal daily doses of doom and gloom and driven consumer confidence into an abyss. Noted syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer called Obama "the Great Non Sequitur." In his national address, Obama cited the causes of our economic bust as: energy, health care, and education. The rest of us blamed the credit bubble, housing collapse and systematic banking failure. Ignoring the latter, Obama will spend trillions attempting to "fix" the former. The new economics: Ignore really big problems we don't know how to fix, spend money on things we think needs fixing.
As a candidate, Obama promised judicious budget scrutiny and elimination of earmarks. After signing the federal spending bill last week - one with 8,570 earmarks - Obama called it "imperfect." Obama and his fellow Democrats tell us they're rescuing GM and Chrysler when it's really payback time for the United Autoworkers.
Incidentally, Ford, which took no bailout money, introduced a new Fusion model recently that gets better gas mileage than the Prius.
Obama lured Jewish votes by promising continued support for Israel. He has since stunned them by authorizing upwards of $20.3 million to bring thousands of Palestinian "victims" from Gaza to the United States. He pledged another $900 million to Palestine.
While impoverished Americans live in tent cities in places such as Sacramento, Calif. Obama subsidizes a dysfunctional terrorist nation, calls former terrorists "victims" and then brings them to U.S. soil to enjoy our tax-funded charity.
Here's transparency decoded: When they say one thing, they mean the opposite. "Promise hope" means "deliver fear." No earmarks means more earmarks. "Save the auto companies" means "save the unions." "Imperfect" means "holy crap!" "Help Israel" means "help its enemies." "Help working class Americans" means "let them starve." "Bring troops home" means "send troops to a new war." I finally get it. Time to wake up, America.
