Durango Sports Club announces hire
The Durango Sports Club Physical Therapy Clinic announces the addition of Colleen Walsh, MSPT, COMT to its staff.
Walshs previous experience included the Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins and several clinics in the state of Washington. She moved to Durango in January.

Tax forum aims to help women
The Womens Resource Center will offer Tax Strategies for Women, an Empowerment Workshop for women who want to take control of their taxes, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. March 1 at the Lavenia McCoy Public Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive in Bayfield, and again from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 31 in the Crossroads Building in Conference Room 3, 1053 Main Ave.
Participants should bring their tax questions and be prepared to learn about how to file taxes for single, head-of-household or newly divorced women; claiming dependents; retirement accounts; education planning; low-income status; and small-business owners.
Melanie McLean, a certified public accountant and tax manager, and Sherin Clarke, a CPA and senior tax accountant, both with Fredrick Zink & Associates, will lead the Bayfield workshop. Virginia Miller Cavanagh, president of AccounTax and a CPA, will lead the Durango workshop.
Cost for either workshop is $5 per person and includes refreshments and class materials. The workshop is free to WRC members.

Smile Makers hires new dental hygienist
Kari Plante is the new dental hygienist for Southwest Smile Makers, a comprehensive dental-care clinic serving youths to age 21.
A graduate of the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Plante has been a dental hygienist for 30 years and has worked in private practice in Minnesota, Durango and Pagosa Springs.
Serving primarily low-income families, Southwest Smile Makers accepts Medicaid, Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+), as well as payment based on a sliding-fee scale. A program of San Juan Basin Health Department, Southwest Smile Makers is located in The Commons building, 701 Camino del Rio.
