Presentation on debt to be held Tuesday
The Business Womens Network will present Debt Free by the Holidays with Personal Financial Coach Matt Kelly from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in Conference Room 100 at 1053 Main Ave.
Kelly will offer easy-to-adopt budgeting tips and tricks that will help people get out of debt and stay debt-free. The event is free to Womens Resource Center members and $5 for all others.
No RSVP is necessary.

Distressed property seminar to be held
The Wells Group will host a Distressed Property seminar and virtual tour from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.
Participants will learn about short sales, foreclosures and bank-owned properties. There also will be a comprehensive virtual tour of more than 40 distressed properties.

Crazy Horse Salon announces new hire
Crazy Horse Salon & Training Center welcomes massage therapist Mariah Coombs to its team of professionals.

First National Bank announces hire
Naomi Serna has started work with First National Bank of Durango. She started Sept. 20 and now works full time at the Albertsons office as a personal banker.
Serna moved to Durango on Sept. 18 from Streamwood, Ill. She joins First National after working for a Marriott International hotel as a food and beverage supervisor and sales coordinator. She also holds a degree in culinary and pastry arts.
Brown-bag lunch to be held Oct. 6
The Sustainable Building Education Program will hold the next brown-bag lunch, Finding Energy Savings in a Historic Property, at noon Oct. 6 at First National Bank of Durango, 259 W. Ninth St.

Big Brothers, Sisters announces hires
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Colorado welcomes Tracy Cornutt as its new executive director.
With experience as executive director for Habitat for Humanity of La Plata County and Partners Mentoring Youth of Larimer County in Fort Collins, Cornutt brings her expertise in strategic planning, grant writing and mentoring.
The nonprofit also welcomes Deb Bendinelli as its new office manager, bookkeeper and marketing assistant.
Bendinelli has a background in nonprofits, specifically in the areas of office and financial management, outdoor education and public relations.
An avid outdoor enthusiast, Bendinelli recently moved from Californias eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains, where she spent 10 years working with science education and land stewardship nonprofits, along with the Roadside Heritage Project. Before that, she worked 17 years in the fields of forestry, fire and public-relations management for the U.S. Forest Service.

Marketing class to be held at FLC
The Small Business Development Center at Fort Lewis College will present the Marketing for Smarties Challenge from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 6, Nov. 3 and Dec. 2 at the Education Business Hall, Room 130 at Fort Lewis College.
