Habitat for Humanity announces new hire
Habitat for Humanity of La Plata County welcomes Barbara Blundell as its new executive director.
With a 20-year career that includes executive management positions in marketing, sales and public relations, as well as 7½ years of experience in real estate and development, Blundell also brings a history of having volunteered with Habitat for Humanity affiliates in both Arizona and Colorado that spans eight years.

Local businesses receive recognition
Ska Brewing Co. of Durango and Growing Spaces of Pagosa Springs have been chosen as two of this years 50 Colorado Companies to Watch.
Both companies will be celebrated at a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Crossroads building at 11th Street and Main Avenue.
Colorado Companies to Watch is a program that recognizes the contributions and innovation of second-stage companies.

Computer company announces new hire
Professional Computer Solutions announces the addition of Ginny Bissell as an outside sales associate and information technology consultant to its staff.
Bissell will be responsible for traveling around the Four Corners consulting with business customers and helping with their technical needs.
She originally is from Montrose, where she got a degree from Delta/Montrose Vocational School and then practiced as a nurse for eight years in the Montrose region. Bissell since has relocated to the Durango area and has been here for 10 years.

Exercise physiologist receives license
Frank Fristensky, exercise physiologist of FitWell Training and Consulting, has acquired his license to provide Biometrics, a program that combines healthy nutrition with a supervised exercise program.
Fristensky specializes in clinical and post-rehabilitative exercise, functional and core exercise and personal fitness coaching. He has been practicing in Durango since 1997.

Quickbooks workshop to be held Wednesday
A Quickbooks Payroll 101 workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Rocky Mountain High Tech Computer Training Center, 691 County Road 233, Suite B4.
Topics covered will include: wages, withholdings and payroll taxes, setting-up employees in Quickbooks, managing the employee center, using payroll items in Quickbooks, other deductions and additions to paychecks, setting up pay periods, processing paychecks, paying payroll liabilities, quarterly payroll reports and more.
The cost is $65 for non-chamber members and $55 for Durango Chamber of Commerce members.
